Established

The ACT Rugby Union Club was established in 1964 as a special purpose lease from the Commonwealth of Australia to function as a social base for members and guests, and at different times housed the ACT Rugby Union (now known as Brumbies Rugby).

Objects of the club

Now affectionately known as The RUC, we have grown to become the most awarded licensed small club in Canberra with over 2000 members.

At the RUC we promote and encourage the Rugby Union Football Code in the ACT. We endorse social interaction and communication amongst people interested in Rugby Union and all other sports.

With the recently completed refurbishment of the RUC we now have the look and feel of an inner city bar rather than a licensed club. We offer a relaxed, comfortable and inclusive environment where people of different backgrounds come to enjoy a bistro meal, a glass of wine, a draught beer or just to watch the rugby. With over 8 beers on tap, a different Beer of the Month each month, extensive wine, spirits and cocktail lists we offer something for everyone.

We don't believe in having a dress code at the RUC, so whether you work indoors or out, like to wear a cap and thongs or a business suit and tie, you'll always be welcome here.
